Music from Around the World for Recorders
Ensemble Music for Descant, Alto and Tenor Recorders in Waldorf Schools
Quick Look
A joyful collection of folk music from different cultural backgrounds, scored for school recorders from Year 5 (age 11) and up.
Description
It can be surprisingly hard for teachers to find good quality music from a variety of cultural backgrounds, which is suitably scored for school recorders.
Michael Preston, who grew up in Africa and New Zealand, has compiled this wonderful collection of folk music from around the world. The selections are easy to see and not too hard to sight-read for children. They are rich, varied and interesting, with the possibility of harmonic accompaniment if wished.
The songs are suitable for children in Year 5 and up. Each section includes an introduction to the country or region, to give some flavour of the music. Pieces are included from North America, South America, Africa, Portugal, England, Scotland, Ireland, Russia, Poland, Japan, New Zealand, Fiji, Tahiti, and Hawaii.
The publishers respectfully ask that you do not photocopy from this book.
