Discover how to craft a felt piglet with the help of our step-by-step instructions taken from Crafting a Felt Farm: A Waldorf Project for All Ages by Rotraud Reinhard.
This project is for suitable for older children and beginners, but if you are entirely new to felting, there are many introductory videos online to help you get started!
Instructions:
- Make head and body out of a single white piece.
- Add pieces of wool to the body to fatten.
- Place slightly curved ears on top of the head.
- Build up the head at the sides and top.
- Needle-felt a thin, ¾ in (2 cm) long, light pink tail in place and add two tiny pieces of wool to connect. Cover well with light pink felt.
- While fulling (see definition above in Shaping Objects) make a neck and bend the head upwards.
- Press around the snout to make it narrower and press against the front of the snout with your thumb to make it round.
- Needle-felt two nose holes and an upwards curving line for the mouth
